About unilorin

Unilorin also has known as the University of Ilorin was founded in 1975 as a federal government institution in Kwara state by a decree of the federal military government in August that year. Its motto is probitas doctrinal meaning in learning and character. It started with only three(3) faculties but now has fifteen(15) faculties. Unilorin is a member of ASUU. The University was affiliated with the University of Ibadan when it started in 1975. The head of the history department at UI was appointed the first principal of the college in September 1975. Professor Akinkugbe was the first Vice-Chancellor to succeed in others. The present vice vice-chancellor Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem.
The University now has fifteen(15) faculties and dozens of academic departments. It’s over 500 administrative staffs that have two institutes which are institutes of education and unilorin sugar research institute. It also has several centers of Ilorin studies, the center of peace and strategic studies, Ilorin business school, etc. Some notable alumni of the great institution are Aize Ibadan, former VC of covenant university and landmark university, Femi Adebayo, Nollywood actor, Pius Adejanmi, Professor, and columnist, Nkem Owoh, Comedian, Josephine Obiajulu, Nigerian women right activist, etc.

Structure of UNILORIN Post UTME Exam

The post utme registration is still on and would end on 31st October 2020
Currently, unilorin sets post utme screening examination on five(5) subjects which include English language, Mathematics, Biology, General paper, and Current Affairs, and does not depend on your jamb combination. The examination is CBT based. The total questions to be asked are fifty(50) in number which will last for 25 minutes to thirty(30)minutes.

The time frame is so small that you have to read carefully and very fast to finish the questions. Hence, constant practice including CBT practice is advised.

Unilorin calculates their aggregate by divided the UTME score by 8 and post utme by 2.
For example; Shade had 280 in Jamb and 75 in post utme. Her aggregate would be;
Jamb score = 280/8 = 35
Post utme score = 75/2 = 37.5
Total aggregate = 35 + 37.5 = 72.5 / 100
Unilorin does not employ the use of O’level results to boost the aggregate score however you should ensure your O’level result meets their given criteria. (see eligibility)

UNILORIN Post UTME Eligibility

– Candidates must have chosen unilorin as the first choice institution

-Candidates must have scored a minimum of 180 in the just concluded UTME examination

– Candidates must be sixteen years old or above.

– Note that in some courses, you must score above 180 in the jamb to be eligible for admission.

Direct entry students must have reached the age of sixteen and their respective certificates uploaded on the portal.
Students should upload their O level result to the jamb portal as soon as possible.

  • Phrases and Clauses

Attention should be drawn to the difference between phrases and clauses, the definition of noun clause and phrases, adjectival phrases and clauses, adverbial phrases and clauses, adjectival phrases and clauses, noun clause as apposition, compliment of verbs, etc
Synonyms
Complex and rare words should be looked up in the dictionary to ensure vocabulary development.
Antonym
While searching for words, meanings, synonyms, one should not forget about antonyms.
Antonyms are the direct opposite of the meaning of a word while synonyms are words that can be used instead of another.

  • Idioms

Idioms are phrases or clauses whose meaning or interpretation is not known from direct translation.
Cliché
Clichés are phrases or clauses that have lost their original meaning.

  • Concord

Concord is the agreement or harmonization of verbs and nouns

  • Sounds

Vowel sounds, Consonant sounds, and diphthongs should be mastered.

MATHEMATICS

  • Longitudes and latitudes

Students should know how to solve complex calculations on longitudes and latitudes

  • Mensuration of solid shapes

Volumes, Areas of solid shapes should be mastered as well as formulas for each solid shape.

  • Factorization

Multiple expressions and Equations involving factorization should be practiced.

  • Polynomials

Students should learn the addition and division of polynomials.

  • Sequence and series

Arithmetic progressions and Geometric progressions form most of this topic and should be committed to memory.

  • Differentiation and integration

Implicit differedifferentiationrentiations of the trigonometric ratios
Quadratic equations and expressions

The various methods for solving these should be learned.

BIOLOGY

  • Circulatory system

The roles of the various organs in the body in the circulation of blood, etc.

  • Genetics

Definitions of genes, chromosomes, mitosis, meiosis, sex sex-linked, etc.

  • Evolution

The history of man explained by biologists, vestigial organs and, various theories by Charles Darwin, …etc.

  • Respiratory system

This involves how gases are absorbed and used to break down food in the cytoplasm and mitochondrion.

  • Cell and its environment

This involves diffusion, osmosis, plasmolysis, pinocytosis, etc
Seeds and fruits
Placentation, types, and classes of fruits as well as the difference between seeds and fruits, etc

  • Classification

This is a very broad topic and candidates should learn it perfectly.
Digestive system
This involves all processes involved from Shinedown and absorption of food in plants and animals

  • Reproductive system

Living things must reproduce to the continuity of life.
Supporting tissues and system
The different tissues in plants like the xylem, parenchyma, collenchyma, etc that ensure support and movement should be studied as well as that of man.

GENERAL PAPER AND CURRENT AFFAIRS

This is based on random questions and knowledge. e.g, information from news, history, and events, national celebrations and dates, Governmental bodies and functions, Meaning of acronyms, facts and nature and largest and smallest countries based on land mathe ss, population, notable personalities, etc.
